Volunteer to Judge
We thank you for your contribution to science, engineering and math in Bartlesville! Please share this website with anyone who may be interested in volunteering. With continued support from volunteers in the local science, engineering and education community, we can offer a positive experience for area students.
Who Should Judge?
You! For the Elementary Fair on Friday judges help to build enthusiasm and give students and opportunity to verbally share their science learnings. Judges should be comfortable with the scientific method and be encouraging. Judges must have completed high school. For the Junior and Senior Divisions on Saturday we are seeking judges comfortable evaluating science and engineering in specific categories. The sign-up page will allow you to sign up for any category needed or specify where you would be most comfortable.
Why Judge?
Science fair is an educational process. Conducting an experiment and preparing a board is just one part of the experience. YOU make the interview portion of the process possible! Additionally, you represent the diversity of what an engineer, scientist, or science advocate looks like. Beyond making the fair run we are also able to capture volunteer grants from Phillips 66 and ConocoPhillips based upon hours of service that provide significant financial support for our operations.
Special Awards Versus Category Judging:
We are grateful to local and national organizations that sponsor specialized awards for our Fair and contribute judges. We use additional judges for these awards that we call Special Awards. Category judges are tasked with reviewing a category (Saturday) or group (Friday) to determine the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finishers (Saturday) or medal winners (Friday). Special awards judges have specific criteria (i.e.: Project best demonstrating utilizing SI units) and judge across a variety of categories often at a rapid rate. If you have not judged before we would suggest starting with Category Judging in your favorite subject.
